Over 20 years after the fatal shooting of hip-hop icon Jam Master Jay, federal prosecutors have secured another major development in the case. A third individual charged in connection with the killing has pleaded guilty, acknowledging his role in the coordinated attack.

Jay Bryant, who had initially denied involvement, admitted in federal court that he knowingly assisted those responsible for the murder.

Prosecutors allege Bryant facilitated entry into the recording studio where Mizell was shot, contributing to the execution of the plan.

The plea adds to previous convictions involving two other defendants, reinforcing the prosecution’s long-standing theory that the killing was a targeted and coordinated act.

The case has remained one of hip-hop’s most high-profile unsolved crimes for years, and while justice has been delayed, authorities continue to piece together the full scope of events that led to the death of one of the culture’s most influential figures.
